Vavircek censured by City Council

The Grand Island City Council voted 7 to 1 Friday afternoon to censure Mayor Jay Vavricek, in an action that no legal no legal consequences. While the special meeting was called to show disapproval towards Vavricek, much of the dispute involved City Administrator Mary Lou Brown, and what her role will be until her resignation becomes effective on Sept. 30th. According to the Independent Mayor Vavricek stressed he was acting impartially during the meeting, but would be required to make statements that would be partial to his case.

As per Federal Communications Commission Regulations following is certified: Platte River Radio Inc. does not discriminate in the sale of commercial time, and will not accept advertising which, in its sole opinion, is purchased with intent to discriminate unlawfully on the basis of race, gender, or ethnicity. The advertiser hereby certifies that its purchase of commercial time is not made for an unlawful discriminatory purpose, including specifically that it is not based upon a decision to place advertising on a station on the basis of race, gender, or ethnicity.
